Our hearts are broken for our friends from and in Afghanistan.
We have taken the past week to put together a plan of action and while it is still developing here is what we know:
We are networking with local agencies and churches to identify and provide temporary housing to Afghan refugees arriving on Special Immigrant Visas. We will keep you informed as this develops.
We will also be coming alongside our partners at The Welcome House Network in North Carolina to provide four furnished apartments in the Raleigh/Durham area to receive our refugee friends.
If you would like to contribute to these efforts, you can give today at theofframp.org. (Mark your donation "refugees".) As we get closer to their arrival and there is a need for furnishings and household items we will provide you with a wishlist.
Finally, The Off Ramp will promote and support the Welcome Ride for Refugees on October 14-17. We encourage The Off Ramp friends to arrange your own Welcome Ride (instructions provided here) and "Join the Journey for Home" in appreciation of the service of our Afghan friends. More details on this soon!
