Welcoming a Family of Four

Dear Friends of The Off Ramp,

For some months, The Off Ramp has been working with Welcome Corps, a part of the US State Department. It is a program where private citizens, groups, and non-profits can sponsor refugees waiting to be resettled.

Our first family has completed the initial paperwork and made it through the preliminary vetting process with the UNHCR (United Nations Refugee Agency), and has now been referred to the US Resettlement Admissions Program. The family of four will go through another vetting process which can happen quickly or may take a while. We want to be prepared.

To that end, we are beginning to gather what will be needed to set up a two-bedroom apartment. You will find a list of items that can be donated or purchased via an Amazon Wishlist here.

If furniture items can be donated, it might be possible to arrange to pick them up within a 50-mile radius of Rock Hill, South Carolina. We can't promise pickup, however

We are grateful for you—our partners—and look forward to welcoming the family of four to the Carolinas.
