We've heard this from so many of our friends and supporters: "We feel paralyzed. We don't know what to do."


We don't have all the answers but when it comes to the refugee crisis in Afghanistan, we do have five ideas for ways you can act and contribute.


Our partners and friends at Welcome House Raleigh have pulled together a list of resources that will teach you about what's happening in Afghanistan, the country's history, and the plight of those forced to leave.


Understand the difference between a refugee and other displaced people. This article will help.


Call your local refugee agency. If you are in a smaller city or town, locate one in the nearest metropolitan area. This will help you locate it.


Refugee agencies and other non-profits working with refugees will have many needs. You can host a furniture drive or provide household items to help newly arrived families settle. Not sure what to do? Many of them have Amazon wish lists or welcome gift cards to Target or Walmart.


Yes, there are many cultural differences and language challenges. These do not hinder accompaniment as a refugee settles into a new life. Just be you and share life with your new neighbor.
